Zibo Hanlong GB4280 graphite-specific band saw has completed a new round of detail optimization, making graphite cutting more stable and hassle-free

Recently, our technical department made some detailed adjustments to the GB4280 band saw machine designed specifically for graphite. While it isn't a major overhaul, a few small improvements have indeed made cutting graphite smoother.

Improvement 1: Upgraded protection for the lifting lead screw.

Graphite dust is fine and tends to adhere to the ball screw surface over time. We have now added a replaceable brush-type chip scraper to the existing steel sealing strip; this makes routine cleaning easier and extends the service life of the ball screw.

Improvement 2: Simplified touchscreen interface

Based on feedback from several long-time customers, we have redesigned the layout of the touchscreen parameter settings page. Frequently used parameters—such as feed speed, cutting length, and return speed—have been placed on the main screen, while less frequently used ones have been moved to a secondary menu. This allows experienced operators to get up to speed faster and reduces training time for new workers.

Improvement 3: Preset parameters for matching diamond-coated saw blades

Different graphite grades—varying in hardness and particle size—require different optimal linear cutting speeds. We have pre-programmed recommended parameters into the PLC for common graphite grades (such as isostatic, high-purity, and medium-to-coarse grain graphite); once the customer selects their material type, the machine automatically adjusts the speed to the appropriate range, eliminating the need for time-consuming trial and error. Of course, experienced operators can also make manual fine-tuned adjustments.

A Hebei-based manufacturer of graphite components for photovoltaic thermal fields purchased a GB4280 machine last year and has been cutting isostatic graphite with it for nearly a year. During a follow-up visit a couple of days ago, the client remarked: "The cut surface flatness is even better than that of our previous imported machine, and crucially, saw blade consumption has dropped significantly. We used to replace two or three blades a month, but now a single blade lasts a month and a half." We had recommended diamond-grit band saw blades; testing confirmed they were indeed more durable than standard bi-metal blades. Although the unit price was slightly higher, the overall cost actually decreased.
