First, the cutting speed must be high and adjustable. High-quality graphite saws can achieve a linear speed of 2,000 meters per minute with stepless speed regulation—allowing for slower speeds for hard graphite and faster speeds for soft graphite.

Second, the drive mechanism determines precision. A servo motor combined with a ball screw offers far greater stability and positioning accuracy than older hydraulic systems, resulting in flat, smooth cut surfaces.

Third, sealing and lubrication are critical. Graphite dust is extremely fine; quality equipment protects ball screws and guide rails with stainless steel shielding or accordion-style bellows and incorporates an automatic lubrication system with low-oil alarms.
